DeFeo, a senior guard for the Golden Bears men's basketball team, had an impressive couple of games last week. The Southington, Conn., native helped lead Western New England to a 2-0 record against Commonwealth Coast Conference opponents, averaging 13.5 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field for a .588 percentage and five treys in 10 attempts from beyond the arc.
DeFeo's best game of the week came on Saturday in an 86-58 victory against University of New England as he recorded 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the 28-point victory. He added to a well-rounded performance with nine rebounds, seven assists, a 2.33 assist-to-turnover ratio and four steals.
The Golden Bears have a road match-up against Curry College on tap later tonight at 7:30, looking to continue their two-game win streak.
Ryan, a sophomore on the women's swimming team, boasted an impressive meet at home on Saturday. She brought home two victories for the Golden Bears versus Simmons College, including a time of 1 minute and 14.24 seconds in the 100-yard individual medley.
The Hyde Park, N.Y., native also contributed to WNE's victory in the 200-freestyle relay. Ryan swam the anchor leg in the relay, as the foursome finished in 1:56.63. The freestyle and breaststroke specialist also posted a 200-IM "A" cut time of 2:34.33 for the upcoming New England Swimming and Diving Association Championships, good for a second-place finish against the Sharks.
The Golden Bears take to the swimming pool later this evening in a home meet against Eastern Connecticut State, beginning at 6 p.m.
