Battaini, of Leominster (Fitchburg St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School), put together the finest week of her young collegiate career. She set a career-high for points in back-to-back games, scoring 12 points at Fitchburg State University on Thursday and resetting the mark with 14 against Nichols College at home on Saturday. In the latter contest, she connected on 5-of-6 field goal attempts--including all four 3-point tries--in her first career start versus the Bison. In three games, she totaled eight assists and five rebounds to go along with shooting percentages of .579 from the field (11-19) and .500 from beyond the arc (6-12). She is majoring in psychology.
An East Longmeadow High graduate, Mickiewicz averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two starts. But where the four-year starter really shined was his ball control, evidenced by nine assists against only three turnovers for an impressive 3.00 assist-to-turnover ratio. He grabbed a game-high-tying nine rebounds against Nichols. He is a finance major.
Currently, Mickiewicz ranks fourth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with 71 assists--16 shy of setting a career high with five games left in the regular-season.
