Grieger, a graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, has been pitching tremendously for the Golden Bears. The forensic chemistry major was responsible for two of the three wins the 'Bears got from April 14-20, scattering seven singles without allowing an earned run while getting eight strikeouts in nine innings of work over two appearances. For the first time in her career, she was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Overall, Grieger (7-6) has the Golden Bears' best earned-run average at 1.71, which is two runs lower than her 3.95 as a freshman.
An attackman out of Canandaigua (N.Y.) High School, Knapton recorded a team-high four points on a goal and three assists in a 20-6 loss to nationally-ranked Endicott on Tuesday, April 15, and followed up that performance with a game-high six points on four goals and two assists in a 14-9 win at University of New England on Saturday. With the UNE game knotted 9-9 in the final stanza, Knapton scored the go-ahead tally while the Golden Bears were man-up.
The sport management major ranks seventh in CCC scoring with 58 points--including a career-best 39 goals--despite missing four straight games during the first two weeks of March.
