Men's Golf Begins Countdown of Top 10 Moments During 2013-14 Athletic Year
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Over the next several weeks, WNEGoldenBears.com will count down the top-10 moments or stories during the 2013-14 academic year for Western New England University Athletics.

Checking in at No. 10 to start our countdown is Men's Golf. On Oct. 27-28 at the Captain's Golf Course in Brewster, the Golden Bears finished first in the Division III category at the 79th annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships and were fourth overall among 40-plus NCAA I-II-III programs. Western New England trailed only NCAA Division I scholarship Central Connecticut State (288+309=597), Rhode Island (297+303=600) and Bryant (298+313=611).

Senior co-captain Patrick Donahue led the Golden Bears with a two-day score of 72+75=147 (+3), good for fourth out of 189 individuals at the NEIGAs. Western New England posted a season-low team score of 300 on the final day, following Donahue's even-par 72 (that led the D-III field) on the opening day to set a team season-low score and a career-best.

The Golden Bears shot a collective 616 strokes for 36 holes.
