"My deepest condolences to all family and friends who Steve leaves behind. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him."

Several WNE community members attended the memorial service on Tuesday, including 2009-10 team captain Chris Gillman and Coach Heffernan. A Golden Bears hockey jersey was placed alongside Briere who was laid to rest by Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
