WNE Athletics Holds Fall Sports Orientation at Golden Bear Stadium

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--With several intercollegiate sports teams already undergoing preseason workouts, Western New England University Athletics officially ushered in the 2013 fall season on Sunday as student-athletes from nine squads and several WNE athletic administrative staff members met for Fall Sports Orientation at Golden Bear Stadium.

After an introductory session of fall sports captains and head coaches, 2014 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee officers, key athletics personnel and Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Jeanne Steffes, Golden Bear student-athletes broke up into four groups to discuss four core topics to the development of a WNE student-athlete. They listened to and engaged in presentations about social media, The WNE Way, SAAC and Golden Bear life/leadership skills on- and off-campus, as each group rotated every 15 minutes to the next station that covered the specific principle.

The one-and-a-half-hour meeting culminated with a lunch served in the Campus Center.
