Parsons, who is the marketing and sales coordinator for the Springfield Visitors and Convention Bureau, talked about the role of sport in creating economic vitality in cities across the country as well as Springfield's own efforts to grow sport-related tourism. He discussed economic impact of sporting events and the realities of the event bidding process. He engaged students in a lively discussion of the value of their business-based sport management education, the importance of building and maintaining professional relationships, and imparted advice about how to succeed in the sport industry.
Parsons, who was a four-year member of the Golden Bears men's soccer program under Coach Erin Sullivan, is a College of Business Sport Management graduate. The Frontier Regional product from Sunderland scored six goals in 49 career games from 2007 to 2010.
