WNE Student-Athletes of the Week Named for the October 13-19 Period
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Freshman women's swimmer Erika Sheinhait (Framingham High School) and senior quarterback Tyler Ward (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo HS) have been named the Western New England University Student-Athletes of the Week for the Oct. 13-19 period, it was announced on Wednesday.

Sheinhait had an impressive collegiate debut during Western New England's season opener on Saturday at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational hosted by Roger Williams University, recording three of the Golden Bears' seven qualifying times to the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. The freshman sport management major turned in three NEISDA "A" cut times in a trio of freestyle events: 50-yard (4th in 26.61 seconds), 100 (2nd in 58.83) and 200 (9th in 2 minutes and 10.40 seconds) to account for 12 of WNE's 38 points.

Ward is the current New England Football Conference (NEFC) co-Offensive Player of the Week after calling signals in the Golden Bears' come-from-behind 36-14 victory at 11-time NCAA Division III Football Championship participant Union College. He led an offense that scored 36 unanswered points by passing for 275 yards on 25 completions in 32 attempts for a 78.1 completion percentage and he accounted for four touchdowns. He established career highs in completions and attempts. The criminal justice major scored on runs of 2, 4 and 8 yards, and threw a 9-yarder to junior Andy St. Fleur to pull the Golden Bears within 7-6 at the time. Ward finished with 309 yards of total offense.
