Latest Western New England Student-Athletes of the Week are Recognized
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University Athletics Department has announced that Emily Anderson (Rocky Hill [Conn.] High School) and Greg McCrystal (Edison, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) are the latest Golden Bears to be named Western New England Student-Athletes of the Week.

Anderson continues to impress in her first season with WNE since transferring from Suffolk University. The sophomore forward scored a career-high 16 points to lead all scorers, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a shot in 23 minutes off the bench during the Golden Bears' 51-44 non-conference victory last Tuesday at Lasell College.

The criminal justice major currently averages 10.3 points and 5.7 rebounds to help the Golden Bears to their best start through six games at 5-1 since the 2010-11 campaign.

A redshirt freshman, McCrystal had an impressive performance in the wrestling team's last action at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College. The exploratory major reached the 141-pound championship, finishing 4-1 in the tournament that featured nationally ranked opponents. He opened with an 11-3 major decision over Blake Nikkinen of American International College and followed with wins by decision against Austin Wruble (Williams College), 7-0, two-time Doug Parker champion Ricondo Cole (Rhode Island College), 12-7, and Justin Cochran (Roger Williams University), 4-3. But McCrystal lost a heartbreaker in the title bout to RIC's Jonathan Costa in sudden victory, 7-5.

As a result, McCrystal was named the Pilgrim Wrestling League Rookie of the Week and now leads WNE with a 9-1 record.
