Schneider comes to Western New England following two-year stint at NCAA Division I Lamar University
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (August 1, 2017) – Helen Schneider has been named an Athletic Trainer on the Sports Medicine staff at Western New England University, Head Athletic Trainer Mike Vallee announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Schneider comes to Western New England following a two-year stint as a Graduate Assistant at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. While at Lamar, Schneider worked with the Cardinals' NCAA Division I FCS football program, providing daily medical care and evaluating and treating injuries. She also administered numerous rehabilitation and treatment programs for injured student-athletes.
"Helen brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to Western New England Athletic Training," Vallee said. "We are thrilled to have her join our Sports Medicine team."
Schneider will primarily work with the football, men's basketball and women's lacrosse teams at Western New England.
In addition to her work with Lamar's football program, Schneider began serving as the sole athletic trainer for the women's soccer team in January. She also assisted with duties for several other teams, including women's tennis, men's & women's track & field, and cross country.
Schneider completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska, where she had the opportunity to gain experience working with the Cornhuskers' storied football and wrestling programs.
A 2015 graduate of Nebraska, Schneider earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training. She went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology from Lamar last May.
