SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 28, 2017) – Three days after being inducted into the Western New England University Downes Athletic Hall of Fame, Lisa & Bruce Bachmann '83/G '90 were the Guests of Honor at the University's 19th Annual Golf Classic on Monday at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, Mass.

The successful event featured a 121-player field and raised over $60,000 for the Western New England athletics program.

The Bachmanns have been instrumental in their support of numerous athletic department initiatives over the years. They have been tireless advocates for the advancement and growth of women's athletic programs at the University.

The Bachmanns have also been annual supporters of both the Golden Bear Club and the Annual Golf Classic. Their leadership, vision, and financial support played an important role in the construction of the Flynn Family Golden Bear Pavilion, which opened in the fall of 2015 and features state-of-the-art locker rooms for Western New England's outdoor teams.

"Lisa and Bruce have been tremendous supporters and philanthropists for Western New England University and Golden Bear Athletics," Director of Athletics Joe Sassi said. "They were both former student-athletes at Western New England, and they epitomize the phrase, "once a Golden Bear, always a Golden Bear". We are extremely proud to have these two newly enshrined Hall-of-Famers as members of our Athletic Family for life."
