The 2005 Western New England College men’s soccer squad finished 12th in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III poll and tied for first in the NSCAA New England rankings. The Golden Bears compiled a 21-3 record that established a program record for wins, breaking the old mark of 16 set the previous season. The team outscored its opponents by a 71-16 margin, reeled off 14 consecutive victories, and posted 13 shutouts. Western New England College was a perfect 9-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) during the regular season, but placed second in the league tournament. After receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Golden Bears defeated host Western Connecticut (2-0) and Union (2-1) for their first wins in NCAA competition. Western New England College then dropped a close 1-0 decision at Plattsburgh State in a Round of 16 contest. Erin Sullivan G’06 was the coach, assisted by Eric Lusignan. The captains were seniors Scott Meikle and Mike Schnepp, and junior Tm Larocca.
