A resident of Glastonbury, Connecticut, Jim Bedard bridged the gap between the club and varsity programs. He came to Western New England College as a defensive end, but was converted to running back. Jim served as a team captain in 1978 and ran for over 1,400 yards in two varsity seasons, averaging nearly five yards per carry, while scoring ten touchdowns. He was named to the 1980 National Club Football Association (NCFA) All-America Team. A vice president at Travelers Insurance in Hartford, Jim is a 1979 graduate of Enfield High School (Conn.).
