Jamie Platt ranks among the top multi-sport athletes in the history of Western New England athletics. In basketball, she was a four-year starter at forward who finished her career second on the team’s all-time list with 964 rebounds and eighth with 1,165 points. She played in 107 consecutive games (team was 70-37 for a 65.4 winning percentage) and was a two-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) selection earning First Team recognition as a senior. Jamie ran on the women’s cross country team for four seasons and was a member of the original squad in 1999. She earned All-GNAC honors in 2000 placing third as the Golden Bears captured the GNAC crown and 2001 after taking sixth place. Jamie, the first runner in school history to make the Hall of Fame, also was captain and MVP in both basketball and cross country. Jamie never played lacrosse until her sophomore year at Western New England, but quickly became one of the Golden Bears top performers. She played defensive wing/midfield and was a four-time New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance All-Star Team selection (2001-04). She completed her extra year of eligibility in 2004. Jamie finished with 116 points (62 goals, 54 assists). The Golden Bears were 49-20 (71.0%) with Jamie in the lineup, and twice both NEWLA champions and NCAA Division III Championship participants. A native of Orleans, Massachusetts, Jamie capped her sensational career by being named the WNE Coca-Cola Female Athlete of the Year. She also was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Jamie earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and a master’s degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield College in 2005. She serves as the girls’ lacrosse coach at the Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. She and her husband Jeremy (a former men’s lacrosse assistant at Western New England) are the parents of Carney Edward (4) and Logan James (1).
