A native of Springfield, Massachusetts, Bruce Hambro ranks among the top pitchers in Golden Bears history. He compiled a school record 1.43 career earned-run-average during the 1973 and 1974 seasons. He posted a 3-2 mark with a 1.80 ERA his junior season to help Western New England College capture the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Championship. Hambro was the MVP of the NEIBA Tournament and a member of the All-Tournament team.
