Kristy Kehoss was among the top players on teams that captured four Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament titles while participating in the NCAA Division III Championship each season. A shortstop and catcher, the Cheshire, CT native compiled a .385 career batting average in 153 games that ranks sixth best in program history. She was a member of the Golden Bears squad that captured the program’s first NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship and made its inaugural appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Eight Championship in 2003. (That team was inducted in the Downes Hall of Fame in 2008.) Kristy had a season to remember her senior year by leading the team with a .472 average, hits (76 in 46 games), homers (9), runs (59 that ranked fifth nationally), slugging (.745), and on-base percentage (.520). She was the Golden Bears MVP and school’s Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Kristy also was both a GNAC and New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) First Team honoree, and the MVP of the GNAC Tournament. The team co-captain ended her illustrious career by being named to the prestigious ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-America First Team. She graduated as the school record holder in hits (175) and runs (147). Western New England posted a 141-34 record (80.6%) record during her four seasons. Kristy graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history and was the recipient of the Harold Heye History Award. She now teaches Social Studies and is the assistant softball and freshman volleyball coach at Guilford High School in Connecticut.
