Erin Marino thrilled fans for four years with her slick ball-handling skills, clutch outside shooting, and solid play at both ends of the court. She served as a team-captain for three seasons and ranked among the top guards in the Northeast. A native of Westerly, Rhode Island, Erin was the inaugural winner of the school’s Coca-Cola Female Athlete-of-the-Year Award in 2001. Nicknamed “Lefty,” she was selected to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Star First Team and the GNAC All-Tournament Team her senior season. Erin also played in the Senior All-Star Classic that was held in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Final Four Championship in Danbury, Connecticut. Coach Wendy Davis called her, “the heart and soul of the team.” Erin finished her career fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,327 points. She led the Golden Bears in scoring three times and was the team MVP as a junior. Erin also ranks among the school’s all-time leaders in assists (296) and steals (265). A top defensive player, she played a key role as the team finished fourth nationally in scoring defense (48.4 points allowed) her final year. Western New England College compiled a 56-44 record (56.0%) during her four seasons. Erin was a Finance major and Dean’s List student at the College.
