Eric Stewart ranked among the top inside players in the Northeast during his sensational four-year career. The Fort Montgomery, New York native was selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Northeast Region Team. He played both the forward and center positions, and served as a team captain his senior season. Eric was the only player in Golden Bears’ history to twice receive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player-of-the-Year recognition. Eric also was a two-time All-Conference selection and MVP of the 2001 GNAC Tournament. He led the team in scoring as a freshman and senior, and in rebounding all four seasons. Eric finished his career fourth on the school’s all-time list in both scoring (1,594 points) and rebounding (832) on the school’s all-time scoring list. His skillful play and leadership helped the Golden Bears win back-to-back league titles in 2000 and 2001, and make two appearances in the NCAA Division III Championship. “Eric was the best clutch player I ever coached,” said Doug Pearson. A History major, Eric also was named to the Verizon Academic All-America College Division District Team his senior year.
