Seniors Lospinuso, Rubino Named to NCAA New England Regional All-Tournament Team
HARWICH, Mass.--Seniors Mike Lospinuso and Mike Rubino represented Western New England University on the 2013 NCAA Division III New England Regional Baseball Team, as the championship was held for five days and ended Sunday at Whitehouse Field. The Golden Bears tied regional runner-up Endicott for the second-most with two selections behind champion Southern Maine's three.

Right-hander Lospinuso (West Islip [N.Y.] High School) fashioned a 1-1 record and 2.53 earned-run average in 10-2/3 innings to lead the Golden Bears' starting rotation. He struck out eight batters and walked only two. He helped eliminate second-seeded and nationally No. 11/15-ranked Wheaton (Mass.), 8-3, on Friday evening, as he allowed two earned runs and struck out five in 7-2/3 innings of work, throwing 107 of 144 pitches for strikes. He is a criminal justice major.

A third baseman from Northford, Conn. (Hill Regional Career HS), Rubino led WNE with a .500 batting average and had a regional-best 11 hits in five tournament games. The 11 hits pushed his career total to 281, which is tied for seventh in NCAA Division III history (according to the 2013 NCAA Baseball Record Book) and extends the Golden Bears' all-time benchmark. He is a criminal justice major.
