SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior defensive back Aaron Lamar (North Conway, N.H.) of the Western New England University football team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Football Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, the league office announced on Sunday.
Lamar recorded nine tackles and an interception in Western New England's 49-27 road win over Curry College on Saturday. His pick, which came on the opening drive of the contest, was returned for eight yards.
Through seven games this season, Lamar ranks second on the team and tied for tenth in the conference with 51 tackles. He has also recorded two interceptions, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.
Western New England (6-1, 4-0 CCC Football) hosts Endicott College (6-1, 4-0 CCC Football) next Saturday (11/2) at 1 p.m. with first place in the league standings on the line.
