BIDDEFORD, Maine (October 19, 2019) – A three-goal first quarter propelled the University of New England field hockey team to a 4-1 win over Western New England University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Blue Bolt Field.
UNE was led by sophomore forward Jillian Lachapelle (Gilford, N.H.), who scored both of her goals over the first 10:18 of the contest.
Sophomore midfielder Ali Martin (South Windsor, Conn.) accounted for Western New England's lone goal late in regulation.
UNE needed just over two minutes to get on the board, as Lachapelle put the Nor'easters ahead 1-0 with the help of an assist from sophomore Julia Steeves (Skowhegan, Maine).
Following a UNE penalty corner at the 9:19 mark, the home team doubled its advantage on junior defender Reanna Boulay's (Liberty, Maine) tenth goal of the season.
