GUARD JON GODBOUT AND FORWARD JIM BAYNE NAMED TO ALL-GNAC FIRST TEAM

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Bristol, Connecticut connection of junior guard Jon Godbout and sophomore forward Jim Bayne were the best players on the Western New England College men's basketball team this past season.

On Monday (Feb. 28), both players were named to the All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball First Team.

Godbout, a repeat First Team selection, leads the Golden Bears in scoring (16.7 avg.), free-throw percentage (80.2), and steals (53), and is second in field-goal percentage (44.5), three-pointers (37), and assists (67). He is a team co-captain and accounting major.

Bayne was second in scoring (15.6) and free-throw percentage (79.8), and first in rebounding (10.5) and field-goal percentage (45.5). He set a school record earlier this season by making 30 consecutive free throws. Bayne is a business major.

Western New England College (17-9) will visit Plymouth State University (19-9) in a quarterfinal round game of the ECAC Division III New England Tournament at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (March 2) in Plymouth, New Hampshire. The Golden Bears are seeded seventh in the tournament, the Panthers second.
