NORTON, Mass. - Third seed Wheaton College jumped to an early lead and coasted to an 85-62 victory over seventh seed Western New England College in a semifinal round game of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship.
Junior guard Jon Godbout (Bristol, CT) led the Golden Bears with a game high 24 points, leaving him just four points shy of 1,000 career points. Senior forward Anthony Charbatji (Attleboro, MA) added 12 points in his final collegiate game while sophomore forward Jim Bayne (Bristol, CT) contributed eight points and a game high nine rebounds.
Wheaton shot 57.6% in the opening 20 minutes to take a commanding 49-23 lead at half-time. Twelve players scored points for the Lyons (20-9).
Western New England College, which upset second seed Plymouth State 70-68 on Wednesday, finishes its season with an 18-10 record.
