Golden Bears Fall at CCC Foe Endicott in Close Contest
BEVERLY, Mass.--Senior co-captain Damon Alston tallied a team-high 17 points and junior Dennis Rinaldi added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday, but that wasn't enough as visiting Western New England dropped a 69-66 setback on the road to Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action at MacDonald Gymnasium. The Golden Bears dip to 3-7 on the season and 2-2 in the CCC, while the Gulls improve to 7-3 and 2-1 in the league.

Endicott's Andre Makris led all scorers with team-season-high 27 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the floor, to go along with seven rebounds. Lance Greene added 10 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, hitting for two crucial free throws with 25 seconds left to secure the win. John Henault also notched double figures with 13 points.

Western New England had a chance to tie the game with 2 seconds remaining, but Ryan Mickiewicz's (7 points) 3-point attempt was well off the mark.

Neither team led by more than six points in a closely-contested matchup.

Alston made back-to-back treys to give WNE a 34-32 lead at the intermission.

The Golden Bears led for most of the second half--including their biggest lead of five points at 48-43 on a Mickiewicz three-point play with 14:59 to go--until a Makris lay-in gave Endicott its first lead, 52-50, since the midpoint of the first stanza. Greene (8 points) and Makris (4 points) combined to score the Gulls' last 12 points of the game.

Despite being outrebounded 47 to 41, Western New England had a decided scoring edge in the paint, 30-22.
