Bridgeport, Conn. native averaged team-leading 13.5 ppg this season
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 20, 2017) – Sophomore guard Mikey Pettway (Bridgeport, Conn.) of the Western New England University men's basketball team has earned All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) third team honors, the league office announced today.
Pettway started 23 of 25 games for the Golden Bears this season and averaged a team-leading 13.5 points per game (14th in CCC) to go with 4.2 assists (T-3rd) and 3.4 rebounds per contest. He posted 13 double-figure scoring performances, including seven 20+ point efforts, with his career-high of 36 points (on 15-of-27 shooting) coming in Western New England's 94-88 setback to Nichols on December 6. Pettway also scored 29 points at Salve Regina on November 30 and 28 at Endicott in the regular season finale this past Saturday. The Bridgeport, Conn. native dished out 5+ assists on 12 occasions, and grabbed 5+ rebounds eight times.
In 51 career games (47 starts), Pettway has compiled 720 points (14.1 ppg), 218 assists (4.3 apg), 185 rebounds (3.6 rpg) and 53 steals (1.0 spg). He was named CCC Rookie of the Week four times as a freshman in 2015-16.
Western New England completed the 2016-17 campaign with an overall record of 6-19, including a 4-14 mark in CCC play.
