SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (August 16, 2019) – The Western New England University men's basketball team departs on Saturday for a six-day, three-game preseason trip in Canada with stops in Montreal and Quebec City.
"I'm excited about bringing our guys to Canada," fifth-year head coach Colin Tabb said. "It should be a great opportunity for us to grow as a group, both on and off the court. We'll play three games while traveling to a couple of historic cities, providing our guys with a rich cultural experience."
The Golden Bears leave campus on Saturday, August 17th and tour the historic Notre Dame Basilica after arriving in Montreal. The second day of the trip includes a guided tour of the Parc Olympique, an athletic facility that hosted many of the events during the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
On Monday evening, Western New England will play its first contest against College Jean-de-Brebeuf, before heading to Quebec City on Tuesday morning.
Tuesday's schedule is highlighted by a trip to the Montmorency Falls waterfall in the morning, and a game against Laval University in the evening.
The final two days of the trip include a bike tour in Quebec City on Wednesday, and an afternoon contest against Bishops University on Thursday.
"In addition to the basketball and team benefits, this trip will force us out of our comfort zone and provide us with some perspective on how other parts of the world live," Tabb said. "I want to thank all of the families, friends of WNE Basketball and other supporters of this trip. This would not have been possible without their support."
