SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 13, 2017) – Three members of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team have been recognized as preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse in the publication's Face-Off Yearbook.
Senior midfielder Keegan Dudeck (Longmeadow, Mass.) was named to the third team, while senior defender Steven Patrie (Lewiston, Maine) and junior short-stick midfielder Justin Holl (Mount Laurel, N.J.) garnered honorable mention accolades.
Dudeck recorded 28 goals and 27 assists in 2016 on his way to USILA honorable mention All-America, All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) first team, and All-New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) third team recognition.
Patrie, the reigning CCC Defensive Player of the Year, was also selected as a USILA honorable mention All-American last season after collecting 29 ground balls and causing 20 turnovers.
Holl, the 2016 CCC Short-Stick Specialist of the Year and two-time All-Conference selection, rounds out Western New England's three preseason honorees. The junior appeared in all 19 games last season, picking up 29 ground balls.
Western New England is coming off a 15-4 campaign last spring that saw the Golden Bears capture their sixth CCC title and make their eighth all-time appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. John Klepacki, the 2016 CCC Coach of the Year, will begin his 16th season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program in 2017.
Western New England opens its season at home against Keene State on February 21st, before taking on St. Lawrence at a neutral site on March 4. The Golden Bears are also slated to face Amherst, SUNY Cortland, Nazareth, Ithaca, Springfield and Tufts during their challenging non-conference schedule.
