Kerr named Defensive Player of the Week, Ward earns Offensive Player of the Week honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 5, 2018) – Senior goalie Steven Kerr (Hopkinton, Mass.) and junior attackman Jared Ward (Littleton, Mass.) of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team have both received weekly honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Kerr was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week, while Ward was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week after the duo helped the Golden Bears open the 2018 campaign with a pair of wins last week.
Western New England posted a 13-10, season-opening triumph at Keene State on Tuesday, before rolling to a 16-6 win over Lasell at Golden Bear Stadium on Saturday.

Kerr posted a 7.84 goals against average and a 66.7 save percentage last week, with 20 saves against the Owls and six stops in the win over Lasell. His 20-save effort marked the second-highest total of his career.
Western New England (2-0) has a big week ahead with a regional showdown at Amherst on Tuesday night and another non-conference contest against Nazareth at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. on Sunday.
