Hunter Cocks Receives Second CCC Specialist of the Week Award

Walden, N.Y. native won 73 percent (27-of-37) of his faceoff opportunities last week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 9, 2018) –
For the second time this season, junior Hunter Cocks (Walden, N.Y.) of the Western New England University men's lacrosse team has been recognized as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Specialist of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. 

Cocks won 73 percent of his faceoff opportunities (27-for-37) last week as the Golden Bears earned a pair of key CCC victories.

He was dominant against Wentworth on Wednesday, going 19-for-23 (82.6%) at the X while securing a game-high 16 ground balls in an 11-9 win over the Leopards at Golden Bear Stadium.

Cocks followed that up by winning 8-of-14 faceoffs on Saturday as Western New England earned a 7-5 triumph at Endicott, in the process claiming sole possession of first place in the CCC standings.

Through 11 games this season, Cocks leads the CCC with 143 faceoff wins. He has gone 143-for-232 at the X for a .616 percentage.

Western New England (7-5, 4-0 CCC) hosts Nichols on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., before traveling to Roger Williams on Saturday.
