SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 25, 2019) – The Western New England University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 2-0, non-conference victory over Trinity College on Wednesday afternoon at Suprenant Field.

Top Performers
Senior defender Bryan Doyle (Southington, Conn.) and senior forward Corey Brown (Somers, Conn.) both scored for the Golden Bears, while freshman goalkeeper Ben Mielnikowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.) posted a two-save shutout in his first collegiate start.

Game Review
Doyle put the Golden Bears in front in the 21st minute, when he launched a long free kick that tipped off Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Anes Gadun's (Clinton, Conn.) hand and into the net.

Trinity junior midfielder Nigel Gustave (Baltimore, Md.) nearly equalized for the Bantams with a curving strike from the top of the box in the 38th minute, but Mielnikowski made a diving stop to his right to preserve Western New England's lead.

With just over four minutes left in the contest, the Golden Bears added to their lead. Senior Brendan Claflin (Burlington, Mass.) played the ball ahead to Brown, who streaked past a Trinity defender and buried a shot into the back of the net.
