Mark Haynes is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Western New England University men’s soccer program in 2019.
Haynes brings over ten years of experience to head coach Devin O’Neill’s staff. Since 2007, he has served as a coach with the Western United Pioneers, a youth soccer organization based in Ludlow, Mass. Haynes also gained experience coaching the Massachusetts Twisters of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) in 2009-10 and as an assistant with Southwick-Tolland Regional High School in 2014.
A 1991 graduate of nearby Springfield College, Haynes earned his bachelor of science degree in environmental health and technology. He was a four-year starter for the Pride, collecting All-Northeast-10 Conference honors twice while helping lead Springfield to consecutive NE-10 championships in 1988-89.
Haynes went on to play soccer at the semi-professional level following his graduation, competing for Gremio Lusitano from 1991-92 and the Massachusetts Twisters in 1994-95 and 1998.
A native of Vermont, Haynes was a four-year letterwinner for Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, earning three All-Conference selections and a pair of All-State nods for the 1983 Division I state champion Patriots.
