Men's Cross Country Finishes Seventh at CCC Championships

BRISTOL, R.I. (October 31, 2015) -
The Western New England University men's cross country team turned in a seventh place finish earlier today at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships, hosted by Roger Williams University at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I.
Western New England placed two runners inside the top-20 and recorded a score of 134 for its seventh place finish in the nine team field. The Wentworth Institute of Technology (47) dethroned host Roger Williams, claiming the program's first conference title in just its second year as a varsity sport. The Hawks, who finished second with a score of 67, entered this year's race having won 14 consecutive CCC titles dating back to 2001. The University of New England rounded out the top-three, compiling a score of 80. Gordon College sophomore Damon Kilgore captured the individual title, traversing the eight-kilometer course in 25:49.44.
Sophomore Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) paced the Golden Bears, turning in a 15th-place finish and clocking in with a time of 27:51.79. Classmate Jonathan Ricciardi (Pattersonville, N.Y.) crossed the finish line just two spots after Barber, placing 17th overall in 27:56.60.

Junior Eric Murphy (Holliston, Mass.) was the third Western New England entry to complete the course, doing so in 28:25.08, good for 27th overall, while sophomore Chris Goymer (Pinecrest, Fla.) finished 35th in 28:38.45. Rounding out the five scoring Golden Bears was sophomore Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.), who placed 45th and clocked in at 28:56.52.

Also finishing in the top-60 out of 117 runners for Western New England was junior Connor Ross (Hanson, Mass.) and senior Edwin Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.). Ross earned a time of 29:17.04, good for 53rd overall, while Kaczenski followed in 55th (29:17.61).
