WATERFORD, Conn. (November 17, 2015) -
The Western New England University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their 2015 campaigns on Saturday at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship, held at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, Conn.
 
The men's team finished 40th in the 55-team field, compiling a score of 1149. Sophomore Jonathan Ricciardi (Pattersonville, N.Y.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing 188th in the 380-runner field with a time of 27:56.5 on the eight-kilometer course.
 
Classmate Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) followed in 197th (28:03.8), while junior Eric Murphy (Holliston, Mass.) placed 236th and clocked in at 28:39.5. Sophomores Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.) and Chris Goymer (Pinecrest, Fla.) were Western New England's last two scoring runners, posting 262nd (29:01.8) and 266th (29:08.1) place efforts, respectively.
 
The women's team placed 48th out of 56 participating programs, turning in a score of 1405. Freshman Meagan Dias (Ludlow, Mass.) capped her strong rookie campaign with a 236th place finish out of 390 participants, earning a time of 25:40.3 on the six-kilometer course.
 
Sophomore Kathleen Silveira (Plainfield, Conn.) was the second Golden Bear to cross the finish line, doing so in 25:52.1, good for 244th overall, while senior Hailey Laviolette (Palmer, Mass.) and freshman Kaitlin Armstrong (Bolton, Conn.) placed 274th (26:14.9) and 335th (27:37.6), respectively. Junior Rachel Duda (Clinton, Conn.) rounded out Western New England's five scoring runners with her 345th place finish in 28:16.1.
