SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 2, 2018) –
Sophomore Aimee Kistner (Taunton, Mass.) of the Western New England University softball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Kistner was dominant in her only pitching appearance last week, striking out a career-high ten batters while allowing just one hit over a complete game shutout performance in Western New England's 2-0 victory over Curry on Saturday at Golden Bear Park.

Kistner also shined at the plate in Western New England's doubleheader sweep of the Colonels with 2-for-3 showings in both contests. She scored two runs in the opener before doubling, driving in a run and scoring a run in the game two triumph.

In six pitching appearances this season (four starts), Kistner is 3-3 with a 3.30 earned run average and 31 strikeouts in 29.2 innings of work. Offensively, she is hitting .361 (13-for-36) with five doubles, six runs scored and seven RBI through 12 games.

Kistner, the 2017 CCC Rookie of the Year and All-CCC second team honoree, receives weekly recognition from the CCC for the third time in her career. She was named both the Player and Rookie of the Week on April 24 last season, before earning Rookie of the Week accolades again on May 1.

Western New England (6-6, 2-0 CCC) is scheduled to host Keene State College in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., before resuming CCC play against Gordon on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
