SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior forward Meghan Orbann (East Hampton, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced on Monday.
In Western New England's only game last week, Orbann produced her ninth career double-double with 13 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal as the Golden Bears opened CCC play with a 60-49 win over Roger Williams at the AHLC. She shot 5-of-10 from the field, making 1-of-2 three-pointers, to go with a 2-for-3 effort at the free throw line.
Through seven games this season, Orbann leads the Golden Bears and ranks seventh in the CCC with 13.1 points per game. The two-time All-CCC selection also averages a team-best 6.4 rebounds (8th in CCC), 2.0 steals and 1.9 assists per game.
Western New England (6-1, 1-0 CCC) will look to extend its winning streak to six games on Wednesday night as the Golden Bears host Salve Regina at 5:30 p.m.
