SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 8, 2019) – This past June, Western New England University announced the addition of women's ice hockey as the athletic department's 20th varsity program, with the team slated to begin NCAA Division III competition in 2020-21.
With the brand new program's inaugural campaign just a year away, Golden Bear athletics has launched a crowdfunding initiative in support of Western New England women's ice hockey.
While existing programs have alumni, player families, and longtime supporters already established in their fundraising networks, the new women's ice hockey program is utilizing fundraising to supplement its budget in areas such as ice time, recruiting, team travel and equipment.
"All contributions, of any size, will help ensure that the first-ever members of the WNE Women's Ice Hockey team have the necessary means to compete at the highest level possible from the very start," said head coach Katie Zimmerman. "Be a part of history by donating!"
