Breen & Lewis recognized individually with Honor Roll status
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (July 24, 2018) – The Western New England University women's lacrosse team has been recognized for its academic excellence as the Golden Bears were named a 2018 Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) on Monday.
Western New England is among 339 women's lacrosse programs across NCAA Division I, II and III as well as the NAIA to receive this honor.
In order to be eligible, teams must have posted a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2017-18 academic year.
Additionally, junior attack Kristen Breen (Ellington, Conn.) and junior defender Janell Lewis (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) were recognized individually with their selections to the IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Honor Roll.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Breen and Lewis are among 639 student-athletes from 189 different institutions to garner this recognition.
Western New England went 7-11 (5-3 CCC) last spring and earned the third seed in the CCC Tournament before falling to the University of New England in the quarterfinal round.
