SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 26, 2016) - The Western New England University wrestling team returns to action this weekend at the 2016 NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by Springfield College.
 
Action gets underway at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the opening round of competition, and wraps up around 7:30 PM.  Sunday's semifinals and consolation quarterfinals will begin at 10:00 AM, with championship finals and 3rd/4th place matches starting at approximately 2:00 PM.
 
The top three finishers in each weight class advance to the 2016 NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the weekend of March 11-12.

Austin Sisco, 133 pounds (So., Denville, N.J.) - Sisco, the No. 2 ranked 133-pound wrestler in the final New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) individual rankings, leads the Golden Bears with a 35-9 record this season, registering 21 pins along the way.
 
Andrew Cole, 184 pounds (Jr., Ogdensburg, N.Y.) - Cole, who suffered an injury in his first match of the season and was forced to miss the remainder of the first semester, still managed to put together a 13-10 record after winning 13 of his last 15 matches.
 
Brian Donovan, 197 pounds (Jr., Manchester, Conn.) - Donovan has been one of Western New England's top performers all season, putting together a 26-13 record with six pins.

Under the leadership of first year head coach Mike Sugermeyer, the Golden Bears went 11-13 this season, finishing with the program's highest win total since the 1998-99 season. Western New England's last NCAA qualifier was heavyweight Jamison Sacco in 2013. Sacco registered three pins at the East Regional en route to the heavyweight crown, before making his second NCAA Championship appearance in Cedar Rapids.
