Donovan & McLinden lead Western New England at Williams Open

Donovan places second at 197 pounds, McLinden finishes third at 133  

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (January 7, 2017) – The Western New England University wrestling team opened its second semester schedule earlier today at the Williams Open, hosted by Williams College at Lasell Gymnasium.

Top Performers
• Senior captain Brian Donovan (Manchester, Conn.) was among five Golden Bears to place in their respective weight class, as he finished second at 197 pounds. Donovan won his first two bouts by fall (3:39) and decision (3-1), respectively, before dropping a 7-6 decision in the first place contest.
• Junior Tim McLinden (Plaistow, N.H.) went 3-1 on his way to third place in the 133-pound bracket.

Other Notable Performances
• Sophomore Josh Nelson (Bristol, Conn.) picked up a pair of decisions and went 2-2 overall, finishing fourth at 174.
• Freshmen Davey Goodall (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Brennan Sankey (North Attleboro, Mass.) also placed fourth at 165 and 285, respectively.
