Western New England ranked tenth as a team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 6, 2018) – Six members of the Western New England University wrestling team are ranked in the top-8 of their respective weight class in the latest New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) rankings, which were released on Tuesday.

Juniors John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) and Ryan Guers (Orwigsburg, Pa.) are both ranked third at 184 and 174 pounds, respectively. Boyle is 11-2 this season and is tied for the team-lead with five pins, while Guers is 3-1 in limited action.

At 157, sophomore Ryan Monteiro (Wilbraham, Mass.) is ranked fifth with a 13-3 record and four wins by fall.

Junior Austin Roche (Southborough, Mass.) checks in at No. 6 at 133 pounds, while sophomores Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) and Justin Delucia (Holbrook, N.Y.) are both ranked eighth at 125 and 141, respectively. Arborio is 13-4 with five pins, and Delucia owns a record of 6-7.

Guers, Arborio and Delucia will all potentially face opponents ranked in the NEWA Top-10 when Western New England takes on New England College at the Alumni Healthful Living Center on Friday night. Guers is slated to face No. 2 ranked Malik Settles, while Arborio will wrestle third-ranked Diego Santiago, who is also ranked tenth nationally. Delucia will match up with No. 7 Najee Hall.
