Veilleux posted 0.86 goals against average in 1-0-1 week for WNE
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 17, 2018) – For the second time in the past three weeks, Western New England University senior goalkeeper Marissa Veilleux (Newington, Conn.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
In two games last week, Veilleux posted a 0.86 goals against average and a .867 save percentage as the Golden Bears went 1-0-1.
On Tuesday at Mount Holyoke, she made three saves in just under 100 minutes of action during a 2-1 overtime victory for Western New England.
She followed that up by making a season-high ten stops on Saturday, including six in the second half and two in the second overtime period, as the Golden Bears earned a 1-1 draw with Endicott in their CCC opener at Suprenant Field.
In four starts this season, Veilleux is 2-1-1 with a 1.91 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
Western New England (3-2-1, 0-0-1 CCC) hosts Elms for a non-conference contest on Wednesday at 4 p.m., before traveling to Nichols for a CCC match on Saturday.
