Stamford, Conn. native posted 10-save shutout in Western New England's 2-0 win over Keene State on Saturday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 3, 2019) – Senior goalkeeper Alex Lemekha (Stamford, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's soccer team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Lemekha had a strong start to the 2019 campaign with a ten-save shutout on Saturday in Western New England's 2-0, season-opening victory over Keene State at Suprenant Field.
The Stamford, Conn. native made four saves in the first half and six over the final 45 minutes of play to secure her 11th career clean sheet.
Lemekha, a two-time All-CCC honoree, is 14-10-5 in 32 career appearances (30 starts) with a 0.97 goals against average and an .834 save percentage.
Western New England (1-0) travels to crosstown rival Springfield College for a non-conference clash with the Pride on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
