SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 7, 2019) – Sophomore forward Allison Bruehwiler (Old Saybrook, Conn.) of the Western New England University women's soccer team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league office announced on Monday.
Bruehwiler fueled the Western New England offense with three goals last week. She scored twice in Wednesday's 4-1, non-conference victory over Dean, before finding the back of the net again on Saturday in a 3-2, CCC triumph over Nichols. Bruehwiler's 15th minute strike against the Bison gave the Golden Bears a 3-0 lead and stood as the game-winner in the contest.
Through 12 games this season, Bruehwiler leads the Golden Bears and ranks tied for sixth in the CCC with 12 points (four goals, four assists). In 33 career contests (24 starts), the 2018 CCC Rookie of the Year has recorded 27 points with ten goals and seven assists.
Western New England (4-6-2, 1-0-1 CCC) will look to extend its winning streak to three games on Thursday, when the Golden Bears host Westfield State in non-conference action at 4 p.m.
