Bartlett & Mangiaratti both post event wins for WNE
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 17, 2018) – The Western New England University women's swimming team split a tri-meet with Eastern Connecticut State University and Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at the Alumni Healthful Living Center Pool. The Golden Bears defeated Plymouth State 88-34 and fell to Eastern Connecticut 68-54.
Sophomores Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn.) and Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) accounted for Western New England's only two event wins of the day as Bartlett captured the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.66) and Mangiaratti finished first in the 50-yard breaststroke (35.03 seconds). Bartlett also placed second in the 500-freestyle (6:09.27) while Mangiaratti finished third in the 100-breaststroke (1:19.05).
Junior Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) and freshman Hannah Tricarico (Seymour, Conn.) both registered a trio of runner-up performances in the 50-backstroke. Snider finished second in the 50-butterfly (30.40 seconds), the 100-butterfly (1:05.70) and the 200-individual medley (2:25.78), while Tricarico did so in the 50-freestyle (27.85 seconds), the 100-freestyle (1:01.80) and the 50-backstroke (31.73 seconds).
Junior Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) also turned in a pair of second place efforts for the Golden Bears in the 400-individual medley (5:24.33) and the 100-breaststroke (1:17.54).
In the 200-freestyle relay, Bartlett, freshman Mary Margaret Getman (Oneonta, N.Y.), Elliott and Tricarico teamed up for a first place finish, clocking in with a time of 1:55.71.
Western New England will be off for almost two months before returning to action on Wednesday, January 9 with a home dual meet against Elms College.
