SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College women's tennis team posted a 7-0 decision over visiting Nichols College Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 25) in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) action.
This was the first match played at the school's recently renovated outdoor courts.
The Golden Bears won four singles matches in straight matches with the No. 1 and No. 2 singles flights not completed because of darkness. Those two matches are expected to be completed at a later date.
Junior Ashley Sunderland (Commack, NY) captured both her No. 1 doubles and No. 3 singles matches while senior Sara Peck (Monroe, CT) (No. 2 doubles, No. 4 singles) and junior Nicole Freed (Jersey Shore, PA) (No. 3 doubles, No. 6 singles) also won both their matches.
Western New England College is now 4-1 overall with the same mark in conference competition.
The bison fall to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in TCCC.
