Western New England College posts non-conference victory over Bay Path

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In a non-conference match, Western New England College blanked visiting Bay Path College 9-0 in women’s tennis Thursday afternoon (Oct. 4).

This was the third consecutive shutout for the Golden Bears who raised their record to 7-3.

Western New England College won every set in straight sets with senior captain Meredith Hughes (Springfield, MA) and junior Ashley Sunderland (Commack, NY) leading the way at No. 1 doubles with an 8-2 win. Hughes also posted a 6-1, 6-3 decision over her No. 1 singles opponent.

Sophomore Kristen Ayers (Acton, MA) won both her No. 2 doubles and singles matches.

The Wildcats, who are enjoying a successful season, saw their record fall to 7-3.
