SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (August 7, 2023) – Kevin Hassett Jr. has been named Western New England's Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Scheduling, as announced by Director of Athletics & Recreation Dino L. Pollock Esq. today.
"We are very excited to welcome Kevin Hassett to our administrative team as Assistant AD for Compliance and Scheduling," said Dino L. Pollock, Esq. " Kevin is a WNE law alum and his background as an attorney and former Division I student athlete will be tremendous assets in his new role leading our compliance office and scheduling functions. I am confident that Kevin possesses the necessary skills, energy, and enthusiasm to excel in this vital role and we welcome him back to the Golden Bear family."
Hassett, a Springfield, Massachusetts native, comes to Western New England after spending time in the law industry, having worked for Fitzgerald Law, PC, based in Springfield, Massachusetts.
"As a Springfield native and an alumnus of Western New England University, I could not be more excited to join the Athletics Department here at WNEU," said Hassett. "I am greatly looking forward to our teams upcoming seasons and getting to witness the success of WNEU student athletes."
No stranger to athletics, Hassett competed at the NCAA Division I level in baseball, having pitched for the University of Massachusetts – Amherst for four seasons. Hassett appeared in 47 games over his career with the Minutemen, making 11 starts. The Cathedral High School (Springfield, Mass.) graduate struck out 76 batters in 105.2 innings of work while at UMass. Hassett was named to the National Collegiate Athletic Honor Society and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll over his career.
Following his four years at UMass, Hassett completed his Juris Doctor degree at Western New England University while also becoming involved as an active member of the University. Hassett would become a General Body Member in the WNE Sports & Entertainment Law Association, get involved in the ABA Tax Challenge, and also volunteered his time at the Center for Social Justice.
Hassett will begin his role as Assistant Director of Compliance and Scheduling on August 7.
