JOHNSON, Vt. (September 2, 2023) – The Western New England women's tenins team came away with a 9-0 victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Badgers of Northern Vermont University – Johnson.

How it Happened:
The Golden Bears would win every match on Saturday, opening with a 8-6 doubles victory in the first spot as both
Emma Miller and
Jessica Cofrancesco would pick up their first collegiate victories at Western New England. The Golden Bears would soar past their opponent in the doubles round, as
Sydney Shepard and
Gabrielle Tirkot would take the second doubles match by a final score of 8-1. Similarly,
Dani Martinez and
Gianna Arace would take an 8-1 win in the third doubles position as Western New England swept the Badgers 3-0 through the first three matches of the afternoon.
Emma Miller would pick up a 6-0, 6-2 win in her first ever collegiate singles match, defeating Matea Smith of NVU-Johnson.
Jessica Cofrancesco came up with a 6-2, 6-1 win for the Golden Bears in the second singles position. WNE would also see first year
Catie Seklecki earn her first collegiate win of her career, defeating Samantha Russell 6-0, 6-0 in the sixth singles spot. The Golden Bears got wins from
Dani Martinez (6-1, 6-0),
Gianna Arace (6-1, 6-2), and
Gabrielle Tirkot (6-1, 6-0) to close out the match with a sweep of the Badgers, defeating NVU-Johnson by a final score of 9-0.
