HILTON HEAD, S.C. (March 19, 2024) - The Western New England men's tennis team won their first two sets of their spring break trip on Tuesday afternoon against the Bees of Saint Ambrose University, though they ultimately fell by a final score of 7-2.
How it Happened:
The Golden Bears would play in three competitive doubles action matches, seeing
Nick Bayer and
Brandon Greger fall just short in an 8-4 match, while Michel Abizaid-Nunez and
Henry Runyan would also fall short, 8-3.
Thomas Roche and
Kyle Poccia grabbed their second win of the season together, collecting an 8-7 win in the third doubles position to grab Western New England one point in the doubles round.
WNE would come away with one win in the fifth singles position when
Poccia was back in the win column, earning a singles win 6-0, 6-3. Michel Abizaid-Nunez and
Nolan Jermain would go the distance in their respective matches, though would not be able to pull the match out in the third set, falling just short. The Golden Bears would fall by a final score of 5-1 in the singles round.
