Women’s Tennis Falls In CNE First Round At Gordon, 4-0

WENHAM, Mass. (October 27, 2026) – Just four days removed from facing the Fighting Scots in the regular season finale, the No. 6 seed Western New England women's tennis team could not come away with a victory in Tuesday's Conference of New England First Round matchup against No. 3 Gordon College, falling by a final score of 4-0 to end the fall season.

Records:
  • No. 6 Western New England: 6-8
  • No. 3 Gordon College: 9-4
How it Happened:

Gordon needed victories in the first and third doubles pairings to come up with a victory in doubles action to take the opening point of the match. Lauren Bilodeau and Wynter Worth dropped a 6-0 decision to Gordon's Lucille Belval and Makayla Otey in the top spot, while Yasmine Giacalone and Kayla Ledoux fell without earning a point, 6-0, in the third position to Abigail Goodwin and Chloe Hanley, giving the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead in the match. The second doubles pairing went unfinished after Gordon claimed the opening point of the match, though the Fighting Scots had the advantage, 5-1, when the doubles session was halted.

Singles action saw a pair of Western New England seniors play in their final fall match as a Golden Bear in their respective careers, as Emma Miller fell in straight sets in the top position to Lucille Belval, 6-0, 6-0, while Lauren Bilodeau dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision in the fifth singles spot, giving Gordon a 3-0 lead. Needing just one more point to clinch the victory in the match, Gordon's Chloe Hanley defeated Wynter Worth in the second singles position, 6-1, 6-0, clinching the victory for the Fighting Scots, 4-0.

The third, fourth, and sixth positions went unfinished. Malina Dinis trailed 6-0, 5-2 in the third position, Kayla Ledoux trailed 6-0, 4-1 in the fourth spot, and Elise Catlett was down 5-4 in the opening set of the sixth-position singles match.

With the loss, the Golden Bears fall to 6-8 on the season. Gordon advances to the CNE Semifinals on Thursday, October 29, to take on No. 2 Roger Williams University. The Blue and Gold will continue their final season this coming March, with a full schedule release coming in late February.
